Foster Grandparent Program
The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) provides individuals ages
60 and over the opportunity to volunteer their time and talents
with children in the Greater Lawrence and Haverhill Communities.
Volunteers Give:
- 20 Hours of their valuable time per week
- Tutor children at local schools
- Work with the Head Start Programs
- Serve as Reading Buddy/Mentor at local Child Care Centers
Volunteers Receive:
- A tax-free stipend of $51 per week, which does not effect
SSI, Housing, or similar benefits
- Travel reimbursement
- Meals while at their volunteer site
- Script Save card, which ensures they pay the lowest prices
for prescriptions
- 5 weeks paid vacation & 70 hours paid sick time
- Accident Liability Insurance while at their site
Retired & Senior Volunteer Program
Tapping the Experience, Skills, Talents, Interests, &
Creativity of People 55 and Over.
All Volunteers Receive Travel Reimbursement & Enjoy Special
Recognition Events

- Tutoring at Local Schools
- Helping out at your Local Senior Center/COA
- Serving with Head Start Programs
- Assisting in Nutrition Programs – Meals on Wheels~ Serving
as a Friendly Visitor
- Helping out at a Local Hospital
- Creating Dolls for Dolls
- Assisting in the Alzheimer’s Identification &
Intervention Program~ Helping out at Nursing Homes

Youth Volunteer Corps
Let the Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) help invest Your Time in Fun
and Educational activities. Spend your summers Helping the
community and Truly Make a Difference!!
Volunteers receive recognition for their service, such as going
to the movies, the beach, going out for pizza, and a big end of
summer celebration.
Choose from the variety of activities we have to offer:
- After school volunteering with children at YMCA/YWCA
- Mural painting/Graffiti Irradiation
- Community Garden Projects/Community Revitalization
- Or create your own project that addresses community needs
- All YVCs go on special trips and participate in an
outward-bound experience to Maine!!
