State Office of Minority and
Woman Business Assistance Programs Sponsored by the Merrimack
Valley Chamber Of Commerce.
Every other month the Merrimack Valley Chamber Of Commerce
sponsors the State Office of Minority and Women Business
Assistance (SOMWBA). SOMWBA is an agency within the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts helping to promote the development
of minority, and women-owned business enterprises and non-profit
organizations. They do this by facilitating their participation
in Massachusetts' affirmative business and economic development
opportunities.
Certification
Certification is the process by which SOMWBA reviews and
investigates applicants who seek to participate in affirmative
business opportunities to determine that they meet the
requirements of state and federal statutes and regulations.
SOMWBA certifies companies for both State and Federal
Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification programs
as well as SOMWBA certification.. For any interested applicant
the first step is to attend a pre-certification workshop. These
are the workshops sponsored every other month at the Merrimack
Valley Chamber Of Commerce. Pre-registration is required. For
